1828, Noah Webster published his first dictionary

1853, Harriet Tubman began the Underground Railroad

1865, President Lincoln was shot by John Wiles Booth at Ford’s Theater in Washington, DC

1902, entrepreneur James Cash (J.C.) Penney opened his first store in Wyoming.  I love that his middle name was Cash.  His first stores were called “The Golden Rule.”

1912, 100 years ago tonight the Titanic struck that pesky iceberg
