Even though as a Jehovah’s Witness I know he does not observe it, but I wanted to honor the birthday of Prince Rogers Nelson in today’s Black Music Month spotlight. I will always love the performance of Purple Rain he did with the Revolution at the 1985 American Music Awards. Watching it still gives me goose bumps and puts a big smile on my face. It’s the main reason I will not throw away my VHS copy of the award show. Yes, I still have it – it’s the third tape from the left! And please read this hilarious commentary about the awards show – you will not regret it!
