As a child I remember being taught the importance of telling the truth and not to lie. I also remember the rule of not talking to strangers, and the big push about “stranger danger.” I am not a parent, so I have not had to cross this bridge before. But, it’s funny to think how our society continues to perpetuate the lie of Santa Claus to children, yet expect them to be honorable and tell the truth. The whole practice what parents preached falls by the wayside here. Then, it falls by the wayside again when parents place their children on the lap of a stranger dressed up like Santa. This isn’t an earth shattering revelation, but the irony was weighing heavy on my mind. Happy holidays!
