I spotted this Mahjong set during a visit to a local antique store. Memories flooded back of when my mom would gather on a frequent basis with three of her co-workers (Mrs. Blumson, Mrs. Levinson, and Mrs. Umlauf) to play this strategic tile matching game. I smile when I think of this crew of women, because they too were such characters. Mrs. Blumson and Mrs. Levinson were English/Reading teachers at my elementary school and Mrs. Umlauf worked with my mother in administration. The ladies affectionately called themselves the “Jew Crew” and being the lone Christian my mom became an honorary member.
