Life Is What Happens When You Make Plans

I realized this morning that today should have been the first day after the completion of my 365Project – my digital diary of taking a daily photo for a year. On March 17th I posted my last photo and blog entry because life is what happens when you make plans.

I was dedicated to my photo project. I had every intention of seeing it through. I had done a 365Project before and knew I could do it again. But once again, life is what happens when you make plans.

I cannot say that I will blog anymore after this post. I now have a time-consuming day job that requires me to write all day long, and the last thing I think about when I log out at 5:30pm is typing another sentence. But for my own satisfaction of seeing things through I felt compelled to put together a slide show of photos that I captured during my days between mid March until now. So, let the show begin…

Sand and Foot-Sea [275/365]

Cousin ToesWell, more like ocean. Six days ago I took a walk on sunny, warm Venice Beach with my cousin – and today my toes are bundled up after braving my 30-degree Saturday morning neighborhood walk in the DMV. *Sigh

December to Remember: Take It to the Bridge [213/365]

Brooklyn BridgeI love bridges.  Living in cities that are known for their bridges was always an added bonus during my time in NYC/Brooklyn and San Francisco.  I am fond of this photo not only because I remember how much fun my girl Dalia and I had that day walking the city and crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, but it showcases the World Trade Center in all its glory.

December to Remember: Ruined [212/365]

Chichen ItzaA trip to Cancun is great for sun, sips and shaking what your mama gave ya.  But throwing in some sightseeing and culture is fun too.  In May 2002, in honor of my friend Pam’s 30th birthday, a group of us ended our trip with a tour of Chichen Itza.  Who knew, but five years later this Mayan City would be named one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.  The climb up was a workout and scaling down the narrow, steep steps was tricky, but the view from the top was absolutely breathtaking.

December to Remember: Beach Bum [211/365]

Hanging in Venice BeachGrowing up an east coast girl my toes spent quality time in the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay.  It wasn’t until a few days before my 30th birthday that I finally had the opportunity to feel the sand and surf of the Pacific Ocean.  Here I found happiness while hanging out in Venice Beach.  Shout out to the west side!  California will always have a piece of my heart.

December to Remember: Cast Away [200/365]

Damage from Drunk DriverYour life truly does flash before your eyes when you see a car traveling in the oncoming traffic lose control, jump the roadway median, and land in your lane barreling toward you.  After a head-on-head collision in 1995 I was blessed to have walked away with only a broken left wrist.  The drunk driver of the vehicle in question stumbled out with no injuries.
